Lovers in the Night

MacKenzie Knierim on Sep 30th 2019

Love is a beautiful thing. I think I’ve always known that, but after having Knox, it just seems so much more real.

This weekend we attended our first wedding since adding him to our family & to say the emotions overwhelmed me was an understatement.

One of my best friend’s from college (and MY catcher) got married on her family farm in truly one of the most beautiful celebrations I’ve ever witnessed. It was a weekend full of old & new friends, true love, and an incredible story and union of two amazing people and their families! That story is theirs to share – but WOW. It was an incredible thing to witness.

I cried multiple times during the day (which is no shock to people that know me well) but one of my favorite moments was during the first dance. The brides chose Always Remember Us This Way x Lady Gaga. They danced in the barn lot and I swear time just stopped watching them light up at each other in that moment. I was holding Knox singing and dancing along, watching the brides, and tears welled up in my eyes as we all danced to the line,

“You’re where I wanna go,
The part of me that’s you will never die.”

I got it together pretty fast because I knew the entire WWU softball team would soon be summoned to the dance floor & I couldn’t be caught with tears streaming down my face… BUT, it was a beautiful moment in time, watching as life came full circle — dancing with my son watching one of my most favorite people ever so completely happy with her new wife. #ALLTHEFEELS

Life is so good & so beautiful, friends. God gives us little moments like this every day and I know I’m guilty of sometimes missing them as I rush through my daily life.

I hope everyone (including myself) can stop and enjoy those simple moments in time where everything just feels good. This approaching season of thanks and giving is the perfect time to do just that!!

With love,

MacKenzie
